A short, dry soil loving blueberry! Prefers acidic soil with some sand. Tolerates light/bright shade, as it often grows in pine barrens in the wild, but may not fruit if shade is too deep. Has groundcover potential, turns impressive shades of red/purple in the fall, and feeds a wide variety of wildlife!

Notable Wildlife Interactions: Flowers attract mainly bees. Hosts the brown elfin and Henry’s elfin butterflies, moths such as the blueberry cinder and slender clearwing, and some smaller insects. Berries are an important food source for animals such as eastern box turtles, cedar waxwings, thrushes, woodpeckers, bluebirds, foxes, skunks, and squirrels. Colonies provide habitat for small animals and ground nesting birds.
