Late fall and winter (whenever the ground is thawed enough to dig) are the best times to get bare roots in, but they can be planted up into spring with good success.
Editable Growing Requirement Files for Numbers (Apple's Excel Equivalent)
The below links will offer to save the above files as .numbers files. Saved files can be edited, allowing sorting by different columns (ex. sorting by height, or wether or not a sun/water cell is filled in) and allow individual species to be deleted. This makes the creation of customized species "short lists" fairly quick and easy.
These tables were made in Numbers. Import into Excel can be done, but the author has been unable to get graphics to transfer over, so sun/light requirements and 'usages' icons will not be visible. Columns with text values (common name, scientific name, height, bloom color/time) should still import and allow for some custom filtering.
