Spring Plant
This Species is typically available during our Spring Public Sale May-June at Geist Nursery in Fishers, IN.
A short, drought tolerant legume with small pink flowers in showy bunches! Needs soil with decent drainage. Perfect to plant alongside other short, dry soil species like butterfly milkweed, purple prairie clover, and prickly pear. Easily crowded out by taller species, particularly in fertile garden soil, and vulnerable to browsing by all mammalian herbivores.
Should be protected from browsing for at least a year or two while it establishes. Dense ‘prairie-style’ plantings may offer protection from browsing once established.
