A.k.a. rose gentian, marsh pink, and bitterbloom. A showy, fragrant biennial that is adaptable to soil type! As a biennial, it is a low leaf rosette in its first year, and puts up a taller bloom stalk in its second year. Maintains itself by reseeding in open soil, so may not persist in established plantings if new space is not cleared for seedlings.
