This Species is typically available during our Spring Public Sale May-June at Geist Nursery in Fishers, IN.

A medium sized milkweed with inconspicuous flowers and distinctive foliage. Perfect for plantings that are too tall for butterfly milkweed, too dry for marsh milkweed, a\or too small for common milkweed! Prefers sandy or gravely soil, but adapts well to loam and clay loam beds. Hardpan clay or waterlogged sights should be avoided. Drought tolerant and easily grown from seed. Spreads slowly by rhizome, but is not aggressive.

Notable Wildlife Interactions: Flowers mainly attract bees and wasps, and occasionally butterflies and day-flying moths. Hosts the monarch butterfly, a few moths including the milkweed tussock moth, a few beetles and smaller insects. Mice may feed on the seeds to a limited extent, and goldfinches use the silk from the seeds to line their nests.
