Pearly Everlasting (Anaphalis margaritacea)
Spring Plant
This Species is typically available during our Spring Public Sale May-June at Geist Nursery in Fishers, IN.
This easy to grow aster relative has long lasting flowers, dense flower heads, and fuzzy foliage that gives the leaves a blue/grey appearance. Host plant for the American painted lady butterfly. When hosting caterpillars, the foliage often looks “webby” with silk- this will not harm the plant and will fade towards the end of the growing season. Because it needs sun, dryer soils, and can tolerate low nutrient (sandy, rocky, part clay) soils, it is often used as a border plant. The durable flowers are commonly used in dried arrangements.
