Perhaps our most common and adaptable dogwood, perfect for naturalized plantings and restoration! Hosts the polyphemus and cecropia moths; flowers are valuable to a variety of pollinators.

Notable Wildlife Interactions: Flowers attract bees, wasps, flies, butterflies, skippers, and beetles. Hosts moths such as the cecropia and polyphemus, as well as some beetles and smaller insects. Berries are valuable to many birds including vireos, thrushes, cardinals, and turkey, as well as mammals such as squirrels and chipmunks. Commonly browsed by deer. 

Notes: Occasionally spreads by sucker, more likely to do so if roots are disturbed.
