A wild rose for dry soils! An adaptable plant that will accept many water levels so long as soil is well drained. Fragrant flowers are bright pink and generally larger than a silver dollar.

Notable Wildlife Interactions: Flowers attract mainly bees, but also flies and beetles. Hosts moths including the gordian sphinx, and other beetles, leafhoppers, and small insects. The hips are eaten by a variety of animals, including bobwhite, pheasant, rabbits, and skunks. Commonly browsed by deer.

Notes: Forms rhizomes and may runner to form a colony. Should be pruned in late winter or early spring. Plants tolerate well drained, wet soils, but tend to have fewer issues with fungus in dry soils.
