A moisture loving vervain that tolerates seasonal flooding. Flowers are small, but bloom in succession for a long period of time and appeal to many pollinators. Plants in intense full sun may develop darker leaf coloration.

Notable Wildlife Interactions: Flowers attract bees, wasps, flies, skippers, butterflies, and moths. Hosts the verbena moth, verbena bud moth, and a number of smaller insects. Seeds feed seed-eating birds such as cardinals, finches, sparrows, and juncos. Generally avoided by mammals, bar rabbits.
