A.k.a. American linden. An undervalued tree with high aesthetic and wildlife value! Fast growing with an appealing natural form, fragrant flowers that support bees, and a respectable list of insect hosts, basswood more than earns its place. Broad leaves cast deep shade, and it has potential as a shade tree!

Commonly browsed by deer and rabbits.
