A distinctive, short, white flowering goldenrod with thin leaves. Grows in dry, shortgrass prairies in well drained soil that contains sand or gravel. Plays well with other short, dry soil species like butterfly milkweed and purple prairie clover! Originally classified as an aster due to the appearance of its flowers, it is now grouped with the flat-topped goldenrods.
