Bush’s Poppy Mallow (Callirhoe bushii)
Spring Plant
This Species is typically available during our Spring Public Sale May-June at Geist Nursery in Fishers, IN.
A.k.a. winecups or wine cups. A showy bloomer with large, magenta flowers that needs dryer, well drained soil. Grows up to two feet tall but its long, low, vine-like branches often have a much wider spread. Can be used for dry soil or rock garden ground cover, but is not suited for erosion control as its branches do not root as they spread and die back to the ground in the winter. An excellent addition to short, dry soil plantings with species like butterfly milkweed, little bluestem, and purple prairie clover!
