A.k.a. common ironweed. Blooms with conspicuously vivid purple flowers. Wild plants are most often seen in wet areas with seasonal flooding, but they adapt well to average, mesic garden beds. Rarely bothered by herbivores, and easily self-seeds in disturbed areas.
