A small buckeye with showy red spring flowers, wonderful for understory of a woodland edge! The early blooms are pollinated by hummingbirds, and often planted with them in mind. Prefers part sun to bright shade, but tolerates the lower end of full sun as long as soils don’t dry out. Rich, moist to medium woodland soils preferred.
