Excellent for shady borders and layering, bottlebrush buckeye had conspicuous blooms and retains its fall leaves longer than other buckeyes. Generally less susceptible to mildews than other buckeyes, leaves may scorch in too much sun. Intolerant of dry conditions, particularly when unestablished. Deer resistant, spreads slowly by rhizome to form a small stand.
