Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium)
The cornerstone of dry shortgrass plantings itself! Stays short, but fills dry plantings well. Adapts to most soil textures, but will not tolerate excess water. Reseeds well, but be outcompeted by taller plants in fertile soils.
